Damaged Smoke Ventilation equipment can on some occasions be refurbished into fully compliant, reliable systems. We choose to help clients save money and prefer not to send material to the dump if it can be given another life cycle.
TAKE A LOOK…
Introducing
The SHEVILATOR ®
A sleek looking natural ventilator that is deemed to satisfy..
The SHEVILATOR® is our locally designed and manufactured natural ventilator that has been developed as an aesthetically appealing alternative to the common box ventilator.
The air flow efficiency of the SHEVILATOR® is far superior to any other static ventilator on the market.
Its low profile allows a neat impression that is less obtrusive to contours on the roof.
Since the SHEVILATOR® has no serviceable parts it requires no scheduled maintenance.
It is the perfect water and dust ingress resistant hole in the roof. It is indeed deemed to satisfy.
Retrofits
Many older buildings are fitted with fusible link ventilators. Replacing links can be wasteful and expensive and these systems are not reliable.
Since the time these systems were designed, a lot of progress has been made to improve reliability using newer technology.
SHEVS offer a unique service that we refer to as retrofitting old ventilators with new EN12101 approved actuators so that building owners can rest assured knowing that their vents will open in the event of a fire.
Optional Third Party Verification
There is a conflict of interest in our industry where as specialists, contractors are responsible to identify problem areas when servicing SHEV systems.
The same contractors are often also responsible to offer solutions which are usually associated with financial reward, but at the client’s expense.
We offer the option to have our work overseen by an appointed independent contractor so that our integrity would never be left in question.
Scheduled Maintenance
By law, scheduled maintenance is a must for all Fire related systems and equipment.
In terms of SANS 10400-T, it is an offence not to maintain a system and/or equipment that is installed for the purpose of detecting, fighting, controlling and extinguishing a fire. SANS 10139 states “such a system must be serviced at least every six months”.
Insurance companies further enforce maintenance by waiving their liability to pay out claims if no record of servicing has been kept.
This often places the servicing of smoke ventilation systems in light of a grudge purchase. We acknowledge this, but if you have to do it, you might just as well have it done by someone who has the expertise, the credentials and the integrity to do the work well.
Our servicing plans will give you confidence that each product will operate reliably in a fire situation.
A service includes functionality checks and tests, inspections for damages, cleaning and lubrication. Repairs & preventative maintenance is done during the service in order to pro-long the life span of smoke ventilation equipment.
When servicing SHEV systems we follow a detailed checklist, displayed below, to verify that all the installed components are in conformance with relevant regulations.
